GetResponse Review — Comprehensive Look at the Pros and Cons

GetResponse Review

At WFHpreneur.com, I rely on the support of readers like you. If you make a purchase through our links, I may receive an affiliate commission, but rest assured that this does not impact the cost of your purchase in any way.

This comprehensive review analyzes both the pros and cons of the widely used email marketing tool, GetResponse. Let’s inspect if the features offered by GetResponse are suitable for your business, or should you opt for a different option?

GetResponse is a tool that helps you send emails to lots of people and see how many people read them and clicked on them. It also helps you keep track of people who might want to buy things from you in the future.

Established in Poland in 1998, GetResponse initially concentrated on facilitating sending of e-newsletters. Over recent years, the company has changed its focus, aiming to be a comprehensive e-commerce and online marketing platform, instead of a classic email marketing service.

Now, you can access all-in-one marketing features with GetResponse. This includes email marketing, e-commerce, landing pages, automated sales funnels, webinar hosting, chat, and a website builder.

Table of Contents

To effectively connect with your intended audience, it is crucial to understand their needs and preferences. Identifying clear goals for your email marketing campaigns is also essential.

Several important factors to consider while formulating your email game plan are as follows:

  • Who is your target audience? What are their interests, needs, and pain points?
  • What are the goals of your email campaigns? Are you trying to drive sales, build brand awareness, or increase engagement?
  • What key messages or offers do you want to communicate in your emails? How can you differentiate your brand from competitors and capture attention?

By answering the above questions and developing a clear plan, you can create emails that generate better results.

  • a landing page builder

  • a website builder tool

  • a selection of e-newsletter templates

  • leads funnels

  • GetResponse has added AI Email Generator. This is available in BETA test with a native AI Subject Line Generator

Features of Paid Plans

As shown on GetResponse landing page, there are three different paid plans offered by GetResponse.

Each plan is tailored to companies with different marketing objectives and subscriber counts.

All three plans increase in price as you add more subscribers.

Let’s explore these options further.

GetResponse Email Marketing Plan

Email Marketing plan provides a basic funnel to set up for your business. This plan allows you to design a webpage and unlimited landing pages that attract subscriptions.

The marketing features enabled the segmentation of subscribers based on existing information. You get autoresponders to use during key customer journey moments.

This plan is suitable for small businesses, solo entrepreneurs, affiliate marketers, and bloggers. It suits anyone who does not need complex automation.

If you sign up for a two-year contract, the starting price for 1,000 contacts is $11.97 per month, or you can opt to pay $19 on a monthly basis without a commitment.

The cost rises gradually if you need to handle over 1,000 subscribers, up to 100,000.

GetResponse Marketing Automation Plan

If you’re looking to take email automation features and segmentation to the next level, this is the plan for you.

With this package, you’ll have access to triggers and event-based sequences. With marketing automation tools, you can create automatic email marketing campaigns that feature varying content based on customers’ preferences and actions or sort them into different segments.

When a customer clicks on two pieces of content in the same category, it shows an interest in this type of material or product.

By utilizing these interests, it becomes possible to generate an automated workflow that specifically caters to what they are interested in, thereby ensuring that they receive only relevant content or offers.

For instance, a gym might discover that a customer is interested in swimming and exercise classes, and so would not send them anything about weight training.

This particular package would be perfect for B2B and technology-based businesses that aim to cultivate leads by means of more refined and advanced content.

As well as webinar builder access, it includes contact scoring and sales funnels – making it an invaluable asset.

The starting price for 1,000 contacts for a two-year term is $37.17 per month or $59 for month-to-month billing. If your contact list exceeds 1,000, the price will be higher.

GetResponse Ecommerce Marketing Plan

This plan offers all the automation and segmentation benefits of the other two plans. It also comes with features such as web push notifications, abandoned cart recovery, transactional emails, product recommendations, and promo codes.

With these advanced features, you can boost sales and optimize your online store.

You can make your automated sequences truly come alive by using automated product recommendations based on prior purchases and automated reminder emails when an item is left in the cart.

This plan provides a complete e-commerce solution, with the ability to let GetResponse integrates payment processors and craft transactional emails to increase sales on your GetResponse platform.

So, you can have an all-in-one platform for both sales and marketing.

The starting price for the package is $74.97 per month, offering services for 1,000 contacts under a two-year agreement.

Alternatively, there is an option to choose monthly billing at a cost of $119 per month.

However, the cost can become expensive if you have many subscribers, up to $699 per month for 100,000 contacts.

Comparison of GetResponse with Key Competitors

With the entry-level ‘Email Marketing’ plan, you’ll likely find it cheaper than many of its key rivals, particularly when you have a substantial database of email addresses.

GetResponse offers a cost-effective solution for hosting a database of up to 1,000 email addresses, at $19 per month — lower than Aweber at $25, or Campaign Monitor at $29. Mailchimp’s comparable Standard plan is more expensive, at $60 per month.

As prices increase, GetResponse typically remains more affordable than all other products.

If you pay in full for either one or two years, you can get significant savings on any GetResponse plan (18% and 30% respectively). This surpasses the discounts given by other key competitors.

Let’s look at other key features of GetResponse.

GetResponse Main Features

We think GetResponse stands out from other email marketing solutions because of its extensive feature set, even on the most basic plan.

The platform provides all the key stuff you’d expect from an email marketing platform — features like list hosting, templates, autoresponders, analytics, and so on.

Still, as mentioned above, it’s recently been expanding its feature set to where it has morphed into an all-in-one marketing and e-commerce solution.

Let’s look at GetResponse features in more detail.

Autoresponders

An autoresponder is a sequence of pre-written emails that are sent to subscribers automatically based on specific triggers or subscriber behavior.

The basic autoresponder feature allows you to create an email and schedule email sequences based on triggers, such as a subscriber signing up for a newsletter or opening an email.

With GetResponse’s autoresponder, you can create a series of targeted and personalized emails that can help nurture leads, build relationships with customers, and drive conversions.

The software offers an easy-to-use interface that makes it easy to create visually appealing emails with no coding or design skills.

Marketing Automation

GetResponse is offering an advanced option for automatically sequencing emails besides the standard ‘drip’ autoresponders.

This marketing automation feature is only available on plans labeled ‘Marketing Automation’ or higher.

You can use the feature to establish automation workflows through a drag-and-drop editing feature. This creates a “flowchart” of instructions for GetResponse to follow when a user opens a particular offer or clicks a certain link.

The automation editor enables you to tailor each template or construct your own from the ground up by dragging and dropping various conditions into the workflow.

For example, you can instruct GetResponse what to do if a user signs up for a list, clicks on a certain link, visits a landing page, or opens an email.

Conversion Funnels

You get access to more automated sales funnels as you go up the pricing ladder.

Website Builder Tool

GetResponse allows you to create a unique online presence with a code-free website builder that is driven by AI.

You can just describe your business and visual preferences to get personalized website templates or choose to create your custom design from scratch.

Email Segmentation

Email segmentation is the practice of dividing an email list into smaller subgroups, or segments, based on specific criteria such as demographics, interests, behaviors, or past purchase history.

Having a proper email segmentation will help you get more email engagement and a better understanding of your audience.

GetResponse offers advanced segmentation features that enable the formation of sophisticated marketing efforts dependent on customer purchases, past orders, location, tags, and activity on sites.

These features are not available or may be limited on many other email marketing platforms.

Contact Management

GetResponse’s email segmentation capabilities are perfectly complemented by its advanced contact management feature.

With a single click, you can produce segments depending on specific criteria, such as contact type, subscription source, and contact status.

This enables easy transfer of contacts from one list to another or duplication to create a secondary segment.

Furthermore, you can exclude particular contacts if they have a pending support ticket, to avoid sending them emails until the matter is resolved.

E-commerce Features

GetResponse allows easy integration with e-commerce platforms, such as Shopify. Magento, Woocommerce, and PrestaShop.

This helps to add customers to your list, reach the right customer at the right time, and gather information about their shopping habits.

Promotion codes used on the e-commerce platforms can be added directly to the autoresponder using the drag-and-drop email builder.

Abandoned Cart

GetResponse has an “abandoned cart trigger” in the ‘E-commerce Marketing plan’.

With this feature, you can divide your contacts who did not complete a purchase and send an automatic message to them.

SMS Marketing

The ‘Max’ plans are the only ones that offer the capability to send marketing text messages.

A/B Test

An A/B test allows for dividing up message delivery into two groups to compare which version is more effective.

GetResponse gives you the ability to test either the subject line or the message content easily.

Paid Webinars

Access to paid webinars is only available with an ‘E-commerce Marketing’ plan or higher.

Live Webinars

The Live Webinars feature is not available in the ‘Email Marketing’ plan.

There is a set attendance limit for Live Webinars for ‘Marketing Automation’, ‘E-commerce Marketing’, ‘Max’, and ‘Max2’ plans, which are 100, 300, 500, and 1,000, respectively.

Customizable Landing Page Templates

Developing a simple landing page on GetResponse is easy as GetResponse provides many customizable landing page templates for various industries and usage.

Reporting Features

GetResponse lets you access in-depth data for all the marketing activities you run with GetResponse, such as letting you check on daily and monthly average subscription rates, and contacts and list growth trends. You can export the available reports to PDF, csv, and xlxs files.

Google Analytics

You can integrate Google Analytics tracking links to the GetResponse email list easily.

Sign Up Forms

GetResponse offers easy-to-create forms that can be embedded in your blog or website.

You can also create pop-ups and scroll forms that grab the attention of your visitors and increase conversion rates. The forms can be integrated with Facebook and WordPress too.

24/7 Chat support

GetResponse customer support is mainly through their online live chat. It offers 24/7 live chat support for all paid plans.

Phone Support

Phone support is only available on the Max2 plan, on which you also get a dedicated account manager (or ‘Customer Experience Manager’, to use the GetResponse term).

Pros & Cons

No software is perfect, and GetResponse is no exception. In this review, let’s examine and take a closer look at the pros and cons to give you a complete picture of the platform.

Pros of GetResponse

Pro 1- Crafting Emails Is So Easy

With GetResponse, users can craft eye-catching emails with ease.

The wide range of templates makes it easy to create a professional look, while the drag and drop editor enables you to customize emails to your branding.

You can even find and reuse design elements from earlier emails that have been successful. It’s simple to make your emails stand out, even without design experience.

The new AI Email Generator which is powered by OpenAI’s latest GPT technology also helps you craft emails in just a few seconds now.

Pro 2 – GetResponse Good Deliverability Rate

The success of any email marketing tool is determined by the deliverability rate — the proportion of messages that reach their intended recipient’s inbox.

GetResponse comes with a remarkable 99% deliverability rate, a result of two decades of building a strong rapport with Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

This is achieved through their zero-tolerance to SPAM, import policy, delivery tracking, and list management tools, as well as processing undeliverable emails with best practices.

This is one of the factors that makes GetResponse one of the preferred email marketing software in the market.

Pro 3 – High-grade Autoresponders

The automation of GetResponse lets you focus on the more strategic aspects of your business.

Its easy-to-use automation builder lets you customize pre-built sequences or develop your own from scratch.

Advanced segmentation allows you to create lists of contacts with similar characteristics or behaviors and send out tailored messages at the recipient’s preferred time – increasing your chances for a successful response.

Pro 4- Live Chat

Adding a live chat button to your landing page or email messages is one of the features to help you to interact with customers or prospects in real-time.

Pro 5- Easy to Use

GetResponse is a superb choice for those new to email marketing.

The uncluttered dashboard and user interface are straightforward to navigate.

It also provides a useful guided onboarding process with video tutorials to guide you through your first email campaign.

Plus, its email and landing page templates and drag-and-drop builder make creating emails and pages easy.

GetResponse has 24/7 chat support with reps who are knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive.

So, no matter if you’re a beginner or an experienced user, you can get the help you need anytime.

Pro 6- List Automation

GetResponse alternatives such as Aweber, Mailchimp, and iContact do not offer the advanced capabilities of GetResponse’s marketing automation.

One of these features is the ability to create segments across multiple lists. This allows you to track the behavior of subscribers across multiple lists and build one segment from their actions.

Usually, this type of segmentation is found in comprehensive systems like Infusionsoft or Office Autopilot, but GetResponse allows for similar tactics for a lower cost.

Pro 7- Funnels

The power of GetResponse also lies in its ability to be more than just an email marketing tool – it provides an automated and personalized solution to setting up various funnels, including opt-in, lead magnet, sales, and webinar funnels that are ready to use.

Automation is essential for scaling up personalization.

Pro 8- Top-Notch Analytics & Reporting

GetResponse provides superior analytics and reporting with its tracking tools for email recipients and website visitors.

You can tailor reports to individual subscribers’ actions and even build up detailed profiles to aid in creating more specific campaigns.

With its email analytics, you can gain valuable insights about your campaigns, engagement, and audience preferences.

Pro 9- Integrates with Many Platforms

GetResponse is a powerful email marketing software that offers a wide range of features to help you grow your email list and improve your email marketing campaigns. One of the key benefits of using GetResponse is its ability to integrate with other platforms, allowing you to streamline your workflow and automate your marketing efforts.

GetResponse offers integrations with a variety of popular platforms, including:

1. E-commerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento, allowing you to sync your customer data and automate your email marketing campaigns based on customer behavior.

2. CRM platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Zoho, allowing you to manage your customer relationships and track your sales pipeline.

3. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, allowing you to connect with your audience and promote your email marketing campaigns on social media.

4.Website builders like WordPress, allowing you to grow your list, track site visits, and send e-commerce data with GetResponse for WordPress.

By integrating GetResponse with these platforms, you can automate your marketing efforts and save time and resources. For example, you can automatically add new subscribers to your email list when they make a purchase on your e-commerce store, or you can send targeted emails to customers who attend your webinars.

Overall, GetResponse’s integration with other platforms is a key feature that sets it apart from other email marketing software. Whether you’re a small business owner or a marketing professional, GetResponse’s integrations can help you streamline your workflow and improve your marketing results.

Cons of GetResponse

Cons 1 – Not Easy to Edit on Mobile

Many GetResponse customers mentioned in their reviews that using the editor on mobile is difficult, and aside from making basic changes, it is unlikely that one would be able to edit landing pages while on the go.

Despite this, the GetResponse mobile app is still very capable of displaying progress and analysis of campaigns.

Cons 2 – Limitations of Email Marketing Plan

Removing automation features from the Email Marketing plan was much to the dismay of long-time customers.

In order to utilize the sophisticated automation and segmentation features, clients must upgrade to the Marketing Automation plan, which costs approximately $59 per month and accommodates up to 1,000 contacts.

Cons 3- Limitations of Webinars

The features of webinars offered by GetResponse are advantageous, however, the recording time allowed is limited.

We can only run live and paid webinars on the more costly ‘Marketing Automation Plan’ and above.

Conclusion

This GetResponse review shows that the marketing software provides both the features and ease of use that many other newsletter tools lack.

We appreciated its automated list management, its flexible and intuitive automation workflows, and its responsive templates.

While the editor can be tricky to use, there’s an app for iOS and Android that allows users to track, send newsletters, and answer live chats from anywhere.

GetResponse has a wide range of powerful features, such as landing pages and webinars, and offers high scores in most areas.

GetResponse offers a versatile package to fulfill most small business email marketing needs and can be an effective part of your overall email marketing strategy.
